Being a sports fanatic Nita Ambani is, it is bound that her contributions in sports are awarded. And on 29th August, 2017 she was awarded with Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Award by President Ramnath Kovind. Nita Ambani led Reliance Foundation received this award for its contribution in promotion of sports. She has always wanted sports to become as important as education as it develops children not just mentally but even physically. And therefore, Nita Ambani launched Reliance Foundation Youth Sports competition to bring young talent forward. The foundation has always been keen to spread the feeling of sportsmanship. Hence, to create bonding with various set of people they have given them a platform by celebrating 29th August as Sports Day.
Reliance Foundation’s Contribution in Sports:
Nita Ambani has spread sportsmanship throughout the country and therefore Reliance Foundation has even focused to use sports as a medium to encourage learning as it keeps children intrigued. It has brought all the villagers from different villages together to form a stronger bond. This initiative is a chance to enhance relationships among communities and promote traditional rural sports.
Reliance Foundation celebrates 29th August as Sports Day every year across 12 states in India in order celebrate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Dhayan Chand. It is organized to promote community bonding through participation in various games and activities. This event brings together more than 40,000 people every year to play different games and this event has helped youth to become great Community Youth Leaders and teach the village children.
Importance of Sports for Nita Ambani:
Nita Ambani led Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) was set up in order to fulfill the dream of making India a Multi-Sports Nation. With this competition her aim is to create a unified structure for sports as a whole so that they can even prepare kids for Olympic Games. In this competition both school and college children participate together. It gives students an opportunity to pursue sports as their career. RFYS had reached out to two million children in their first year itself and this year they are planning to reach about four million children.
Being a member of International Olympic Committee, Nita Ambani is very enthusiastic to take sports to every corner of the country. And the foundation has expanded across eight new cities this year namely Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kerala. At the launch of RFYS season 2 she said that it’s overwhelming for her to kick start RFYS national competition in Kerala as it is a wonderful place and their love, support and passion for football is very inspiring and commendable.
Nita Ambani has always been a major contributor of sports in India. She also leads Indian Super League which is now become India’s premier football tournament and Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians.
