After registering its win against Kolkata Knight Riders by nine runs on 13th May 2017, Mumbai Indians became the first ever team to attain 100 victories in the T20 cricket format. Captain Rohit Sharma credited the team’s consistency for this feat.

Mumbai Indians created this record on completing its 176th match, after which, it topped the table and got selected for playoffs. Being on the top gives Mumbai Indians two chances for qualifying in the final.

Mumbai Indians’ journey

Mumbai Indians has been playing the IPL since its launch in 2008. The team lost its first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets. Mumbai Indians registered its first win in its fifth match against Kolkata Knight Riders held on 29th April 2008, under the captainship of Sachin Tendulkar.

Mumbai Indians has won the IPL title twice, in 2013 and 2015. In both the years, the team defeated Chennai Super Kings in the finals. So far, Mumbai Indians has played 154 matches in the IPL. It won 89 matches, lost 64, and tied one. Besides, the team has played 22 matches in Champions League T20 between 2010 and 2014. Out of these, it has won 11, lost nine, and abandoned two. It also won the Champions League T20 in 2011 and 2013. In 2011, Mumbai Indians won its first trophy after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore and in 2013, the team won the final against Rajasthan Royals.
