Nita Ambani’s Son Akash Ambani to Wed Shloka Mehta

The wedding bells have rung at the house of India’s richest and most influential family. It is now a matter of months before the ceremony takes place but what we now know is that Nita Ambani’s first born son, Akash Ambani would tie the knot with Shloka Mehta, the daughter of diamond magnate Russel Mehta. It has been one delightful occasion for everyone involved. This has been seen as the coming together of two of India’s biggest and most well-known business families.

About Shloka Mehta-

She is the youngest of three children of the respected diamantine Russell Mehta. Shloka was Akash’s classmate when they studied together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School back in 2009. Furthermore, she has a degree in anthropology from Princeton University after which she did her masters in law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is now a director on Rosy Blue Foundation. She has also started her own initiative ConnectFor, which basically matches volunteers with NGOs that need them.

Nita Ambani’s heartfelt tribute-

A proud mother on the occasion of her eldest son, Nita Mukesh Ambani was quick to show her happiness at the inclusion of yet another member to the family. She has known the Mehtas for quite a long time and Shloka almost her entire life. She had this to say after the engagement was confirmed-

“Mukesh and I have given very strong foundation to our kids and even larger wings to fly – they have the freedom to take decisions for themselves and of course, choose whom they would want to spend the rest of their lives with. Marrying the one you love is gratifying and heart-warming. I have known Shloka since she was four and we are all delighted to welcome her to our home and our hearts”

The engagement in Goa-

Both families flew down to Goa for the engagement ceremony. Accompanied by close friends, the Ambanis and Mehtas had a get together in order to get to know each other better, or rather let Akash and Shloka spend time together. Recently, a source close to the families did confirm that talks were on regarding this for quite some time, which culminated in this meet between both of them. Set in a plush, fancy five star hotel and in the presence of Kokilaben Ambani, wife to the late Sh. Dhirubhai Ambani, founder of Reliance Industries, Akash and Shloka celebrated their formal engagement and exchange of rings with the cutting of a cake and a small after party.

A star-studded affair at Antilia-

A post engagement party was thrown to celebrate this momentous occasion. Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani had hosted a grand party at their residence Antilia, where prominent celebrities, actors, actresses, cricketers and businessmen were present. Few of the well-known people present were Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, John Abraham, Rajkumar Hirani, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, etc.

Isha Ambani’s speech at the party-

The twin sister of Akash, Isha Ambani had a small speech prepared on the occasion of her brother and her best friend’s coming together as one. She was quite possibly happier than the pair of them, given her genuine enthusiasm and the ‘heartfelt’ emotions she felt as she addressed the guests of their big bash-

“Today is all about ‘hearts’. The theme is ‘hearts’, Shloka is a ‘heart’, Akash is a ‘heart’; it’s about the greeting of hearts, the meeting of hearts, and the celebration of hearts. And Anant and I are all hearts for Shloka and Akash. I don’t think our hearts could burst any more with love and affection than it is today. And, we are just so happy to call Akash our bhai and Shloka our bhabhi.”

“Welcome to the family. But the truth is that Shloka has been a part of our family since as far as I can remember. Diya and I were in school together, and Diya is the first best friend I ever had. And, by relation, Shloka has also been my best friend since…I don’t know, I can’t even remember a time in my life when I didn’t know Shloka. So in many ways, this is the officialising the fact that we were sisters; born to different mothers. And I am just so happy that I finally get to call her my real sister. And, our family feels complete in a way that it never did before. So, welcome to the family.”

Suffice to say that this has been a long awaited union of two of the biggest names in the country and given all accounts, it is the coming together of two people who have known each other for quite a number of years and are affectionate towards each other. This engagement has been a celebration of their companionship for so long and when the wedding is held in December as planned, it is sure to be one of the biggest and the most anticipated events held in the country in a long time.
