Reliance Foundation Youth Sports
Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) initiative is designed in order to boost football as a sport at the grassroots level in India. To commence on the 28th of August, the program is inviting participation from schools and colleges all over the country. A unique sports platform, individuals may participate in any of its four categories which include Junior Boys, Senior Boys, Senior Girls, and College Boys.
Promising to offer world-class facilities in order to elevate the students’ participation, the initiative also plans to award scholarships to the deserving participants.
The schools of these participants will be given state-of-the-art football equipment while their coaches will be granted access to quality training programs.
Nita Ambani led Reliance Foundation intends to fund the Young Champs initiative every year. Aimed at spotting quality young talent in the field of football, the grassroots program focuses on scouting football players between the ages of 11 and 14 years. The attempt to scout talented youngsters will be done through the program’s grassroots activities with the help of affiliate NGOs like Magic Bus, Slum Soccer, and Yuwa.
The long-term vision is to inculcate the importance of sports as well as education in youngsters. Deserving individuals stand to win full-time residential scholarships which would enhance their all-round development. RF aims to not only create a multi-sport platform but also combine education with quality football opportunities.
The foundation believes that, to be able to compete at a professional level, all players must be granted access to a plethora of opportunities. These include world-class coaching, state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities, and technical guidance.
Nita Ambani emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in the field of sports; the reason behind their grassroots initiatives. Her goal is to further her dream of India being a nation that not only appreciates but also encourages the growth of football.
She explained how the Indian Super League (ISL) is also an effort towards the same dream and its aim of allowing billions of Indians to experience the exhilaration of the sport. ISL partners, she said, display the qualities of resilience and commitment towards the development of India.
She then explained how the ISL is taking baby steps but is on its way to create a name for India in the field of football.
